Kitāb al-Kanūz
Coraline Parmentier
Piano Mondo

Album of eastern music by pianist Coraline PARMENTIER; Kitāb al-Kanūz is a profound spiritual journey through 15 countries spread across Middle East and Maghreb. Performed on an American Steinway D grand piano from 1878, fully restored for the occasion, as well as a Turkish oriental keyboard from the Yamaha PSR-5000 series, which features authentic-sounding quarter tones, traditional drum machines and world instruments.

So I decided to invent my own treasure book by inviting you to dive into the heart of my imagination, through a one-hour spiritual journey logically following the geographical map of the world, to move our spirit from one country to another.”
You will musically visit 15 countries in the Middle East (Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine), the Middle East (Sudan, Egypt, Libya, Turkey, Iran, Armenia, Afghanistan), and the Maghreb (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria). Each element is a hidden pearl, a treasure. But instead of achieving gold as described in the original work, for me it is about us developing the true riches: imagination, knowledge and knowledge. At the end of listening to this disc, which is an experience in its own right, I hope that you will feel changed at the level
